Today, I get to unplug and shut down what has been my sanctuary, my Fortress Of Sounditude since 2017. Three singles, two EPs and a hard drive full of unreleased material that have been composed, recorded and mixed here. Hard to believe that it almost didn’t happen. Hard to believe that, more than ten years ago, I came back from a mini tour in North Florida and basically said I quit.
I am a sentimental person, I can’t help it. Moving on from this space, from this room, pulls on certain strings. I know that everything that is forthcoming is more than worth it and I cannot wait to get started on this new chapter. I guess this is sorta like my equivalent of moving away from the house your kids grew up in.
And it is not just music that was born here. I was able to develop my skills as a videographer/editor and even host. “The 1 & 0 Show”, “You Oughta Know”, my guitar reviews, etc. I was able to accomplish a lot of personal and career goals on this little corner of the universe in just four years. This is also my gaming rig and without it, SPAWNDIE, my video game inspired band, would not exist. So many big little things.
I guess the thing that worries me is that I was able to find a groove in this room and it scares me to think of how that groove will change with my next setup and what I will be able to get out of it. If you know me, then you know I am a bit superstitious and I am also a creature of habit. I want to make sure the next version of my Fortress Of Sounditude is as special as this one because I have so much to give still. So much unreleased material, so many songs, so many interviews and shows that I want/need to do. I am anxious to get going again, moving back to Florida was always the plan. We are going to be closer to friends, family and so many of my music peers that I can’t wait to reconnect with and do something special with.
Four years, five music releases and many, many videos. That is the legacy of the first variant of The Fortress Of Sounditude. Looking forward to an even better second conception.
